@s73v3r - What do you mean the money goes away every year if you don't use it. It's a savings account, period. I initiated HSA plans at my company almost 3 years ago, and have one personally. I suggest you do a bit of reading about HSA's before you go around spouting off complete garbage. Here's a direct passage from the wiki, "All deposits to an HSA become the property of the policyholder, regardless of the source of the deposit. Funds deposited but not withdrawn each year will carry over into the next year. If the policyholder ends their HSA-eligible insurance coverage, he or she loses eligibility to deposit further funds, but funds already in the HSA remain available for use."And here's the page from the Treasury Department, http://www.ustreas.gov/offices/public-affairs/hsa/ ...Frankly, an HSA is much more about what health insurance should be. It's asinine to pay into a plan, only to have every little office visit and band-aid submitted as a claim. HMO's destroyed health insurance. Just like most other forms of insurance, it should be there as a form of protection in case of a major event, just like home owners, auto, life, etc. It shouldn't be used every time you piss in a cup or get a splinter. This type of policy and mindset that has corrupted our health insurance and health care in this country.

Number of deaths is utterly irrelevant if you can't figure out how many. I could say that nuclear explosions that have gone off in the US are less deadly, since nobody got hit by one in the US, while I could say sleeping in the UK is very deadly since many people die during it.Having the actual percent rates are a lot better, because if nearly nine hundred people died from ecstasy like they said, and only 5/10/25 thousand people used it, that's a pretty damn high chance of dying. But if a million people participated in horseback riding and 900 people died, that's still too many deaths, but it's statistically less dangerous.Hell, if I started only using the data I wanted, ignored the rest, and forgot about "math", I'd sure-as-hell get offered a job at MSNBC.

You're right on in this assessment Confidence. I'm confirming the commercial debacle via conversations with friends in the banking industry. One of whom is going to be unemployed very soon because of the commercial debacle you mention.I think the commercial real estate problems (about 2 trillion dollars worth... they will be announced after the new year) are going to push up interest rates so the 5% stuff they talk about in the article will soon be history.Right now, if you force banks to require 20% down and charge 8% interest you force the average value of a home in this country to $100k or less. That's another 50% dive in home values and when that happens you're going to see a new round of foreclosures. Foreclosures caused by homeowners walking away from their mortgages because they owe twice as much as their home is worth. Why keep paying those huge payments. Now you can rent or purchase another home at half what it costs now.!

"God is great" is no more significant an outburst for a muslim than "thank god" is for a Christian. As for the other one, would you not call for the death of a dictator you were forced to live under? I would do more than call for it, I'd actively seek it. That sounds as American as apple pie, to me.

@Krakerjax, as for the first and last questions:Anyone joining the military just to pay for college or because it's a tradition doesn't have a sound, reasonable mind anyway, so if it was those guys committing suicide, I'm not surprised. There's plenty of other ways to earn money and get respect from your family and continue family traditions without joining the military on a whim and then getting suicidal when things don't pan out when a war starts.You join the military to help the country and yourself for the two reasons you outlined in the other two questions, along with helping your colleagues.I'm not saying I don't support those that do join it for family/money reasons, or that these guys are the sole suicide attempts in the military, but I think it'd be much better for their mental health (whether they become suicidal or not) if they had a career they were truly suited to and wanted.
