I get to see the books sometimes, and from that I can tell you that my health insurance is insanely expensive - about 30% of my gross pay. The reality is, if you want to be self-employed or START a small business in America... well, you better be already wealthy, or married to someone who has good family insurance. When we're able to opt in to a public non-profit option, it's going to be a BOON to American small business, particularly the self-employed. Small business is supposed to be the economic engine, and with health insurance deterring folks from starting their own small business.. well that's a damn shame and huge missed potential.?
